| THE Center for Public Utilities at New Mexico State University is presenting a program entitled The Basics: Practical Skills for the Changing Electric, Natural Gas, Telecommunications and Water Industries. The course will be held at the Sheraton Uptown Hotel in Albuquerque from October 12-17, 2008.
This program is designed to present a hands-on framework that shows the interrelationships of the industry topics and provides a set of analytical skills required to understand the issues related to each. The primary audience of the course is commission or company employees with less than one year of experience in the regulatory arena.

| THE American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) will hold its 35th Annual Meeting in Chicago, from July 30-August 2. Nearly 3,000 state legislators, senior business executives and public policy experts will gather for the meeting.
ALEC was founded more than a quarter century ago as an association grounded in the fundamental Jeffersonian principles of limited government, federalism and free markets.

| NCSL Annual Meeting in New Orleans |

| TUESDAY, July 22, 2008, marks the beginning of the Annual Meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) in New Orleans, Louisiana. The NCSL’s mission is to “improve state legislatures, foster communication among states and ensure a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system.”
Several Illinois legislators are members of key NCSL committees.
The NCSL serves the legislators and staffs of the nation’s 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. It is funded by the states and governed by a 56-member executive committee.

| THE American Gas Association (AGA) will hold its 31st annual Legal Forum at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in San Diego on July 20-22, 2008. The AGA Legal Forum is an intensive two-day seminar that gives participants the opportunity for in-depth discussion of gas industry issues with other member company general counsel and senior attorneys. The Forum will focus on the impact of the changes taking place in the industry and the new legal challenges facing companies and their clients.

| NARUC Summer Committee Meetings in Portland |

| THE National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) will hold its Summer Committee Meetings in Portland, Oregon, from July 20-23, 2008. State Commissioners and staff members from around the country will meet in various committees and subcommittees with an eye toward developing NARUC policy on several important issues of interest to the regulatory community.
Members of the Illinois Commerce Commission serve on several key NARUC policy committees. Commissioner Erin O’Connell-Diaz serves on the Committee on Electricity.
Policies developed at the summer meetings may be acted upon at the NARUC’s annual meeting in New Orleans in November.

| “INVESTING in North America’s Electric Future” is the theme for the Annual Convention and Expo held by the Edison Electric Institute. This year’s convention will be held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, from June 15 to 17.
More than 1,200 top decision-makers of domestic and international firms from the manufacturing, finance, power production and other energy-related fields will be on hand in Toronto to discuss critical industry issues. In addition, attendees will be able to attend the Expo 2008 Exhibit Hall featuring new products and services.

| THE annual meeting of the MidAmerican Regulatory Conference (MARC) will be held in Oklahoma City from June 14-18, 2008. The Illinois Commerce Commission is a member of MARC along with public utility commissions from several midwestern and southwestern states. The Oklahoma Corporation Commission is the host of this year’s event.

| Smart Metering Midwest Conference |

| THE Smart Metering Midwest conference will be held June 10-11, 2008 in Chicago. The objective of this event (and a series of events like it around the nation) is to provide a practical and hands-on forum for high-level utility executives to identify, discuss and forecast developments in the intelligent metering, grid and meter data management facets of the industry.
Top level speakers from all key industry segments will present their views using case studies, in-depth sessions and interactive panels.
With multiple smart metering projects at various stages of deployment and maturity, the conference will review the status of smart metering in the Midwest region. Special focus will be given to key development issues such as regulation and financing, as well as tariffs and demand response initiatives.
For many utilities the deployment of smart metering will be the most significant upgrade yet of their metering infrastructure.
Day One of the event will focus on policy and regulatory drivers for smart metering and assess the impact, advantages and challenges associated with smart metering initiatives. There will also be a session on strategies and standards regarding meter data management.
Day Two will have sessions on demand response, smart networks and AMI. There will also be a look at the role of advanced metering and the intelligent grid as well as a session on broadband power line communications.

| THE Edison Electric Institute and the New Mexico State University Center for Public Utilities present an E-Forum Dialogue entitled “Quantifying the Benefits of Dynamic Pricing.” The event will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on April 17, 2008.
The e-forum will convene leading experts to review the results obtained from the most significant smart metering pilots and programs in North American. It will also describe a planning tool, the PRISM spreadsheet-based modeling platform, that is available to any utility and any jurisdiction to help predict the impact of dynamic pricing.
