ComEd Energy Delivery, an Exelon company, is engaged in the transmission,
distribution and sale of electricity to both wholesale and retail customers. The
geographical service area of 11,525 square miles extends into 25 counties across
the Northern one-fifth of the state of Illinois and includes the city of Chicago. In
2000, ComEd merged with PECO Energy of Pennsylvania and plans to increase
energy consumers' options by developing energy-related businesses in a variety of
fields.
ComEd's six nuclear generating facilities are located in Zion, Dresden (near
Morris), Quad Cities (near Cordova), LaSalle County (near Seneca), Byron and
Braidwood. In 1999, ComEd sold its entire fossil generating fleet to Midwest
Generation in order to encourage competition in Illinois' evolving marketplace.
